Programs: MAX, Darktree, Brazil Renderer, Digital Fusion, Photoshop
Some work I did on an internal blur project. Out Of Time is a ride film where you're in a sub that gets sent back in time and swims around with big nasty giant sea dinosaurs. Above is a test I did for a coral seabed. First I modeled all the coral bits, then assembled them in several scenes that are comped together with digital fusion. Light was a mapped skylight, rendered with brazil. Here's some of the coral I modeled. Texture is usually Darktree and texturemaps, I used a lot of displacement on these as well. Rendered with Brazil skylight to get that nice underwater look, the skylight did the ambient light, and a single spotlight near the camera served as the headlight on the sub. Below is a lot more coral. As well as the coral, I worked on an Ichthyosaur. The original design for the fish was by Feng Zhu. The model was done using Polyobject and then meshsmoothed. Textures took a good deal of time since it needed to look good very close at 2k. I first split the character into several pieces (fins, body, head, etc), mapped each seperately, painted seperate bump and diffuse maps for each, then merged them all together. Below is the smooth fish. Here's a few of the maps that make up the diffuse and bump maps on the body. And then here's several shots of the final textured fish. Rendered with Brazil.
All work above done at Blur Studio.
